Monday, September 26th, 2011The Art of Handpainted Furniture
Friday, June 11th, 2010Handpainting furniture is a meticulous technique that flourished in Europe around the 17th and 18th century. Modern day artisans revive this technique today. Each piece features slight variations in color and brushstrokes – a personal “signature” of the artist that enhances the value of the piece. This unique personal style means that each piece is a one-of-a-kind furniture treasure.
Painting techniques can include dry-brushing, color blending, and feathering. Another hand-painting specialty of Colorado Style® is eglomise (eglo·mi·se), a reverse glass painting process developed in 19th century France. Encased by glass, the delicate painting on the inside of the object has an intriguing, lustrous appearance that will delight you for years to come.
